The main areas are Network Monitor, Maintenance, Documentation and Training. The monitoring system monitors all aspects of your network and provide alerts to system administrators for any fault conditions. The maintenance system provides reports on maintenance that has been completed, service request and repairs and future maintenance schedules. Documentation includes network diagrams, as built documentation, proposals, purchase order history and service manuals and specifications. The Training tab includes various user and administrator training videos and manuals.
Network monitoring has 3 key areas :
Live Network Monitoring
This system can be configured to monitor all devices on the network in real time. Any failing device or actual fault condition can be monitored and alerts provided and service tickets created.
Network Faults, Alerts and Alarms
Once a fault is detected, it can be actioned in different ways. For most fault conditions an email is sent to the IT Admin Team and a service ticket is generated in the system.
Network Health Reports
Network Health Reports can be generated as required and you can see how the network has performed over the past month or year.
A properly maintained network ensures peak performance and minimal downtime. It also reduces the possibility of a system failure in peak usage times and in the less likely event of a failure, rectification can be completed more quickly and efficiently. A poorly maintained network on the other hand, like a motor vehicle and deteriorate to the point where the repairs can become time consuming and very costly.
The Network Maintenance area has three main tabs:
For some reason many IT systems have inadequate, poor or sometimes non-existent documentation. It is generally the last thing done on any project and quite often gets glossed over. The cost of this can be significant when attempting to maintain, repair or upgrade an existing network. The DyCom Central Intelligence Portal aims to have all network documentation located in a single repository that is easy to search and find the documentation you require.
